A nostalgic recipe for crispy fried chicken marinated in buttermilk, perfect for family gatherings.

  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat, ensuring 1-2 inches for optimal frying.
  4. Remove the marinated chicken, dredge each piece in the flour mixture.
  5. Fry the chicken in the hot oil until golden brown, about 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture. Marinate longer for best flavor.
