Light and airy meringue cookies that melt in your mouth, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean, dry mixing bowl, whip the egg whites and cream of tartar on medium speed until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add the granulated sugar while continuing to beat the mixture until stiff peaks form and it takes on a glossy sheen.
  4. Gently fold in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  5. Spoon or pipe the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1-1.5 hours or until the meringues are dry and can lift off the parchment.
  7. Turn off the oven and let the meringues cool inside with the door slightly ajar.
  8. Once completely cool, store in an airtight container.

Notes

Ensure equipment is grease-free for best results. Use room-temperature egg whites for better whipping.
