  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, alternating with the whole milk.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature before starting. Avoid opening the oven door too soon to prevent sinking.
