Fluffy and sweet blueberry cinnamon rolls with a delightful cinnamon filling and a drizzled icing, perfect for breakfast or a sweet afternoon treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, active dry yeast, and salt.
  2. Heat milk & butter: In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk and butter until warm (not boiling).
  3. Mix the dough: Add the warm milk-butter mixture and the egg to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms, then knead for about 5 minutes.
  4. Let the dough rise: Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough: After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle shape.
  6. Add the toppings: Spread the blueberries evenly over the dough, sprinkle the ground cinnamon, and then the brown sugar.
  7. Shape the rolls: Roll the dough tightly, slice into rolls about 1-2 inches thick, and place in a greased baking dish.
  8. Second rise: Let the rolls rise again for about 30 minutes.
  9. Bake to perfection: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Prepare the icing: Mix the powdered sugar with 1-2 tablespoons of milk until desired consistency, then drizzle over warm rolls.
