Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 24 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown and nutty, stirring frequently.
  2. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly to prevent cooking the sugar.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the browned butter with powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Mix until smooth, adding heavy cream as needed for desired consistency.
  5. Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or cookies.

Notes

If the frosting is too thick, add a splash of heavy cream to restore creaminess. Storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week is recommended.
