A delightful marriage of classic crème brûlée and cookies, featuring soft buttery texture and a caramelized sugar topping.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream (for caramelizing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl and add to the creamed mixture.
  5. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are golden.
  7. Cool the cookies slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Sprinkle granulated sugar on top of each cookie while still warm.
  9. Caramelize the sugar with a kitchen torch until bubbly and golden.
  10. Let the cookies cool completely before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is at room temperature. Can substitute margarine, but flavor may vary.
