A decadent chocolate poke cake infused with rich chocolate pudding and topped with whipped cream, perfect for any chocolate lover.

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients needed for cake mix: eggs, water, oil)
  • 1 cup chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup chocolate syrup
  • 1 cup whipped topping
  • Chocolate shavings or chocolate chips for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the cake mix instructions.
  2. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions and pour it into a greased 9×13 inch pan.
  3. Bake the cake as instructed and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
  4. Use the end of a wooden spoon to poke holes in the top of the cake, about 1 inch apart.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and milk until it thickens.
  6. Pour the pudding evenly over the top of the cake.
  7. Drizzle the chocolate syrup generously over the top.
  8. Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours.
  9. Spread whipped topping over the cake before serving.
  10. Garnish with chocolate shavings or chocolate chips.

Notes

For extra flavor, infuse the pudding with a teaspoon of instant coffee for a mocha twist. This cake can be made a day ahead and stored in the fridge.
