A rich and moist chocolate layer cake that’s perfect for any occasion, filled with nostalgia and love.

Ingredients

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until blended.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry mixture. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin).
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat. Store leftovers properly to maintain moisture.
