A comforting dessert with a tart apple filling and a crumbly oat topping, perfect for autumn gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups sliced and peeled apples (like Granny Smith)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 unbaked pie crust
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to prepare for that golden-brown crust.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, cornstarch, and salt until they are evenly coated.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into the unbaked pie crust, spreading it evenly.
  4. In another bowl, mix together flour, brown sugar, oats, and butter until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the oat mixture generously over the apples in the pie.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for another 30-35 minutes until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
  7. Let your pie cool before serving to allow the juices to set.
