Delightful bars bringing the charm of traditional strawberry shortcake with a buttery crust, topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish to prepare for that delicious crust!
  2. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk those dry ingredients together for an even distribution of sweetness and flavor.
  3. Add the softened unsalted butter to the dry mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gently stir in the milk until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Press the crust mixture evenly into the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
  6. Bake the crust in your preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until it’s golden brown.
  7. Let the crust cool completely before layering the sliced strawberries on top.
  8. Serve your strawberry shortcake bars with a generous side of whipped cream.
