A quick and simple homemade sweet chili sauce that elevates any dish with its balance of sweetness and spice.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water (for cornstarch)

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, vinegar, and water in a saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the chili flakes and minced garlic. Let simmer for about 5 minutes.
  3. Mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a smooth slurry.
  4. Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan and stir until the sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool before serving.

Notes

Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Adjust chili flakes for desired heat.
