French Onion Beef Sloppy Joes

A comforting blend of French onion soup flavors wrapped in a classic American sloppy joe.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  2. Add 1 lb of ground beef to the skillet and break it apart until it’s evenly browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in 1 cup of beef broth, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon of onion powder. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Lightly toast 4 hamburger buns until golden and crisp.
  5. Spoon the beef mixture onto each toasted bun and top with 1 cup of shredded Swiss cheese. Serve immediately.

Notes

Serve with crispy sweet potato fries or a fresh salad. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
