A vibrant twist on the classic red velvet cake, this Green Velvet Cake is a delightful treat, perfect for any celebration.

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon green food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your pans by greasing and flouring two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder in a large bowl.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla extract, green food coloring, and vinegar.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Frost with cream cheese frosting or your favorite frosting once cooled.
