A comforting and hearty homemade bread featuring rolled oats, sweet raisins, and a delightful swirl of cinnamon.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Soak the oats in warm water for 30 minutes until soft and fluffy.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix all-purpose flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and active dry yeast.
  3. Add soaked oats, melted butter, and egg to the dry ingredients; mix until cohesive dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Gently incorporate raisins into the kneaded dough.
  6. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  7. Punch down the dough, shape into a loaf.
  8. Place in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
  11. Cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

This bread pairs well with butter or honey and can be frozen for up to 3 months.
