A delicious twist on a classic dish, combining French onion soup flavors with comforting sloppy joes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 can French onion soup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (Swiss or provolone)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter for toasting buns

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add sliced onions to the skillet and cook until they are soft and caramelized.
  3. Stir in the French onion soup and Worcestershire sauce, and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. While the beef mixture simmers, butter the hamburger buns and toast them in a separate pan until golden brown.
  6. Spoon the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, top with cheese, and then place the top half of the bun.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

Great served with chips, fries, or a salad. Can be stored for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
