  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon green food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • Cream cheese frosting for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In another bowl, mix the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla extract, and green food coloring until well combined.
  4. Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Frost the cakes with cream cheese frosting and stack them to form the cake.
