Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Green food coloring
  • Whipped cream or green frosting (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring they’re fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk until well combined.
  6. Add green food coloring until you reach the desired color.
  7. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
  10. Frost with whipped cream or green frosting before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider incorporating chocolate chips or nuts into the batter. Room temperature ingredients work best for fluffiness.
