A fun and rewarding recipe for making artisan pizza dough at home, yielding a crispy and chewy base for any pizza lover.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the sugar and yeast in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Combine the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Make a well in the center, adding the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough, then roll it out to your desired thickness for your pizza.
  6. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C), placing a pizza stone inside if you have one.
  7. Top the rolled-out dough with your favorite ingredients and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden.
