A comforting and nostalgic Old-Fashioned Tuna Casserole that combines creamy sauce, tender noodles, and scrumptious tuna.

  • 2 cups egg noodles
  • 1 can tuna, drained
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Breadcrumbs for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain them.
  3. Sauté the chopped onion and sliced mushrooms in melted butter until soft.
  4. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually add milk while stirring constantly.
  5. Toss in the drained tuna and frozen peas, ensuring everything is well combined.
  6. Combine your cooked noodles with the creamy tuna mixture and half of the shredded cheese.
  7. Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish and top with the remaining cheese and breadcrumbs.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  9. Serve hot, letting everyone enjoy the comforting flavors.
