A delightful dessert that combines red velvet and creamy cheesecake, perfect for special occasions.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Mix together oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar in another bowl.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  5. Beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth in a separate bowl.
  6. Pour half of the red velvet batter into the prepared pan, then dollop the cream cheese mixture on top. Follow with the remaining red velvet batter.
  7. Use a knife to swirl the cream cheese mixture gently into the batter.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool before removing it from the pan and serving.

Notes

Serve chilled or at room temperature; dust with powdered sugar or serve with whipped cream.
