A rich and buttery red velvet pound cake with a delightful heart center, perfect for celebrations and special occasions.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. Cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
  6. Stir in vanilla extract and red food coloring until well combined.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the bundt pan.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove from the oven.
  9. Create a heart shape in the center with the remaining batter.
  10. Add the rest of the batter over the heart shape.
  11. Bake for an additional 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  12. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack and decorating.

Notes

Ensure butter is at room temperature for optimal mixing. You can substitute buttermilk with milk and vinegar if needed.
