A heartwarming classic dish made with ground meat, mixed vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes, baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground meat (beef or lamb)
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat; add the diced onion and minced garlic and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add the ground meat to the skillet and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in the mixed vegetables, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  5. Transfer the meat and vegetable mixture to a baking dish.
  6. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley if desired; serve warm.

Notes

Shepherd’s Pie can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. It also freezes well for up to 2-3 months.
