Delightful bars combining the flavors of maple syrup and warm spices, perfect for breakfast or as an indulgent snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just incorporated.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.
  8. Cut into bars and enjoy!

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for about a week. Can be frozen for up to 2 months.
