Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons honey or sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, honey (or sugar), salt, and instant yeast in a large bowl.
  2. Gradually add warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients and mix to form a dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Punch the risen dough down and shape it into a loaf, placing it in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Allow the dough to rise again in the pan for about 30 minutes.
  8. Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  9. Cool the loaf in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

To keep your bread fresh, store it in a bread box or paper bag at room temperature for up to 3 days. Slice and freeze for longer storage.
