A classic Sour Cream Coffee Cake that combines rich moisture with sweet flavors, perfect for morning gatherings or afternoon tea.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium-sized bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter with the granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add the dry ingredients and sour cream into the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans if desired.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking pan and sprinkle half of the cinnamon over it. Layer with the remaining batter and top with the remaining cinnamon.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool before serving.

Notes

Serve with coffee or tea for a perfect treat. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or refrigerate for a week.
