Comforting Swedish meatballs served with a creamy sauce and lingonberry sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, onion, milk, egg, salt, pepper, allspice, and nutmeg until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Brown the meatballs in a large skillet with melted butter over medium heat, cooking until browned on all sides.
  4. Set the meatballs aside and keep warm while preparing the sauce.
  5. Prepare the beef broth in the same skillet, bringing it to a simmer and scraping up any browned bits.
  6. Create the cream sauce by stirring in the heavy cream and returning the meatballs to the skillet.
  7. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce thickens.
  8. Serve with lingonberry sauce and mashed potatoes.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a dairy-free alternative. Pair with creamy mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
