A dreamy vanilla cake that’s perfect for celebrations, topped with fluffy whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
  5. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before turning them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
  10. Beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until stiff peaks form for the whipped cream.
  11. Frost the top of one cake layer, place the other layer on top, and frost the sides of the cake.
  12. Slice, serve, and enjoy your Vanilla Dream Cake!

Notes
