  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup German chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the melted German chocolate and vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually combine the dry and wet mixtures, alternating with milk.
  7. Fold in sweetened coconut and chopped pecans.
  8. Pour batter into prepared cake pans.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Frost with coconut-pecan frosting and serve.
