  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Mashed potatoes, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the ground beef, chopped onion, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a large bowl. Mix well and form into 6-8 patties.
  3. Brown the patties in a large skillet over medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  4. Whisk the flour with the remaining skillet juices until smooth, then gradually add the beef broth and milk, stirring until thickened.
  5. Stir in the sour cream and melted butter to create a creamy sauce.
  6. Arrange the patties in a baking dish and pour the sauce over them.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly.
  8. Serve hot, preferably over mashed potatoes.
