Baked ziti is a comforting dish that combines tender pasta with a hearty meat sauce and melted cheese, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) for optimal baking conditions.
  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente; then drain and set aside.
  3. Brown the meat in a large skillet over medium heat until browned; drain excess fat.
  4. Add the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  5. Mix the cooked ziti pasta with the meat sauce, ricotta cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese in a large bowl.
  6. Pour the pasta mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and the grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. This dish can also be frozen before baking for future meals.
