A nostalgic and comforting baked ziti recipe that brings warmth and joy to any gathering.

Ingredients

  • Ziti pasta
  • Marinara sauce
  • Ricotta cheese
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Ground beef or sausage (optional)
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Olive oil
  • Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Sauté chopped onion and minced garlic in olive oil over medium heat until fragrant.
  4. Brown the ground beef or sausage if using, then drain excess fat.
  5. Create the sauce by stirring in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper, and simmer for a few minutes.
  6. Combine the cooked ziti, meat sauce, and ricotta cheese in a large bowl.
  7. Layer half of the ziti mixture in a greased baking dish, followed by half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat, finishing with Parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Bake covered with aluminum foil for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  9. Rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven until bubbly.
