A comforting baked ziti dish with layers of pasta, marinara sauce, and gooey cheese, perfect for gatherings and cozy dinners.

Ingredients

  • Ziti pasta
  • Marinara sauce
  • Ricotta cheese
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Ground beef or Italian sausage
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Basil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Sauté in a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.
  4. Brown the meat by adding ground beef or sausage and cook until browned.
  5. Stir in marinara sauce and let it simmer for a few minutes to meld the flavors.
  6. Combine in a large bowl, the cooked pasta, ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, salt, pepper, and basil. Mix well until everything is coated in creamy goodness.
  7. Create the first layer by layering half of the pasta mixture into a baking dish, then add half of the meat sauce on top.
  8. Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta mixture and meat sauce.
  9. Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese for that golden, bubbling finish.
  10. Bake covering with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
