A comforting baked ziti recipe that combines creamy ricotta, tangy marinara, and gooey mozzarella for a delicious Italian-American dish.

  • Ziti pasta
  • Marinara sauce
  • Ricotta cheese
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Egg
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Basil or Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook ziti pasta according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, add chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until translucent.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the cooked ziti, sautéed onion and garlic, marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, egg, salt, pepper, and half of the mozzarella and Parmesan.
  5. Spread half of the mixture in a baking dish, top with remaining sauce, then the rest of the ziti mixture.
  6. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes, then serve with basil or Italian seasoning on top.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
