Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  3. Sauté the ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the marinara sauce to the meat mixture and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Combine the cooked ziti, meat sauce, ricotta cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese in a large bowl.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Top with the remaining mozzarella and sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve hot.

Notes

This baked ziti pairs wonderfully with garlic bread and a green salad. Optionally, add red pepper flakes to the meat sauce for extra heat.
