Soft and fluffy rolls that combine the comforting flavor of banana bread with the sweetness of cinnamon rolls, topped with cream cheese frosting.

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix mashed bananas, sugar, and butter until well combined.
  3. Add milk and egg, and stir until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. On a floured surface, roll out the dough and spread a thin layer of butter, then sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top.
  7. Roll the dough tightly and cut into 1-inch pieces.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Meanwhile, make the cream cheese frosting by beating cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.
  10. Once the rolls are baked, allow them to cool slightly and spread cream cheese frosting on top before serving.

Notes

These rolls are best enjoyed warm but can also be served at room temperature. Pair them with coffee or chai for a delicious breakfast.
