A nostalgic Banana Cream Pie with a creamy filling and fresh bananas, topped with whipped cream.

  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • Additional sliced bananas for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven according to the pie crust instructions.
  2. Bake the pie crust as directed and allow to cool completely.
  3. Whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a saucepan.
  4. Incorporate the milk gradually while mixing.
  5. Cook over medium heat, stirring consistently until the mixture thickens.
  6. Temper the egg yolks by slowly mixing some of the hot mixture with them.
  7. Final cooking: Stir in the butter and vanilla after cooking for another 2 minutes.
  8. Prepare the bananas by slicing them and layering in the cooled pie crust.
  9. Pour the vanilla pudding mixture over the bananas.
  10. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  11. Top with whipped cream and garnish with additional banana slices before serving.

Notes

Use ripe bananas for the best flavor. Chill the pie for at least 2 hours for optimal texture.
