A creamy and cheesy orzo dish that combines tender chicken with BBQ sauce and ranch dressing for a comfort food classic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Seasonings: garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 6-7 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove chicken and let rest.
  2. Toss in orzo and toast for 1-2 minutes in the same skillet.
  3. Pour in chicken broth, bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10-12 minutes until orzo is tender.
  4. Shred the rested chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Stir in heavy cream, BBQ sauce, ranch dressing, and white cheddar into the orzo until creamy.
  6. Add shredded chicken back to the skillet and heat everything through for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Spoon into bowls, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.

Notes

For added flavor, consider sautéing onions or bell peppers with the orzo. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
