Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef (tender cut)
  • 34 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • Oil (for cooking meat)
  • 1/4 cup oyster sauce
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Beef: Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips. Place it into a bowl and add in the soy sauce, cornstarch, black pepper, and baking soda. Mix all of the ingredients together well and set aside to marinate.
  2. Mix the Sauce: In a separate bowl, combine oyster sauce, the additional low sodium soy sauce, water, cornstarch, brown sugar, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly and set it aside for later.
  3. Sauté the Beef: Add 1-2 tablespoons of oil to a pan on medium-high heat, then add in the marinated beef. Use a spoon to separate the pieces so that they do not overlap. Cook the beef for a couple of minutes per side, until browned on all sides, then remove it from the pan.
  4. Blanch the Broccoli: Add the broccoli to a pot of boiling water and boil for exactly 2 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  5. Cook the Garlic: In the same pan, add a little more oil and reduce the heat to medium. Add in the minced garlic and sauté until slightly browned.
  6. Thicken the Sauce: Pour the sauce mixture into the pan and stir until it begins to thicken.
  7. Combine and Coat: Add in the broccoli and the browned beef, stirring until everything is fully coated with the sauce.
  8. Serve: Serve this delicious beef and broccoli stir fry over rice or noodles. Enjoy!
