A rich and savory bolognese sauce that brings warmth and comfort, perfect for family gatherings.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup red wine (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Sauté the aromatics by heating olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Brown the beef by adding it to the skillet and breaking it up. Cook until browned for about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste to the skillet, along with the red wine if using. Stir to combine.
  4. Season your creation with oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer over low heat for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Serve the bolognese over your favorite pasta and enjoy every bite!

Notes

Leftover bolognese can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
