A delightful fusion of cookies and brownies, richly layered and topped with chocolate chips, perfect for sharing or enjoying alone.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 box brownie mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup additional chocolate chips (for brownie layer)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Cream together the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and butter until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually stir this dry mixture into the creamed mixture.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips for even distribution.
  6. Spread half of the cookie dough into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Prepare the brownie mix according to the package instructions, adding the water as needed, then spread over the cookie layer.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining cookie dough on top of the brownie batter.
  9. Sprinkle additional chocolate chips over the top if desired.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
