  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown and nutty, about 5-7 minutes. Allow to cool slightly.
  3. Mix the brown sugar with the browned butter until combined.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla.
  5. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to the butter mixture until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool in the pan before cutting into squares.
