A delightful twist on a classic, these Cabbage Roll Bowls feature tender cabbage leaves filled with a savory mixture of ground beef and rice, simmered in rich broth.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 cup rice (uncooked)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully remove the cabbage leaves and blanch them for 2-3 minutes until softened. Remove and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, sauté onion and garlic until translucent. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in uncooked rice, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Lay a cabbage leaf flat and fill it with a portion of the beef mixture. Roll it up and tuck in the sides.
  5. Place the cabbage rolls seam-side down in a large baking dish. Pour beef broth over the rolls.
  6. Cover with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 45-50 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving, and watch your family’s eyes light up with delight.
