Deliciously sweet and crunchy candied pecans that are perfect for snacking, salads, or garnishing desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, water, and salt in a saucepan. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Add the pecans and bring the mixture to a boil, allowing the magic to begin.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pecans become golden and caramelized.
  4. Stir in the butter and vanilla, then remove the pan from heat.
  5. Spread the candied pecans on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Allow the pecans to cool before breaking them apart and serving.

Notes

Watch closely while simmering to prevent burning. Let the pecans cool completely for the best crunch.
