A nostalgic cheesy ground beef sandwich that warms the heart, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: condiments like mustard or mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Sauté the onions in a skillet over medium heat until translucent.
  2. Add the ground beef to the onions, seasoning with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
  3. Mix the cooked beef and onions with shredded cheese until melted and combined.
  4. Butter one side of each slice of bread generously.
  5. Place a slice of bread, buttered side down, on a hot skillet.
  6. Spoon the beef and cheese mixture onto the bread and layer with another slice, buttered side up.
  7. Cook until the bottom slice is golden brown, then flip and toast the other side until crispy.
  8. Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve warm.

Notes

For perfectly toasted bread, keep the heat medium to low. Experiment with different cheeses and add vegetables for flavor variations.
