A rich and creamy Indian dish featuring tender chicken marinated in spices and yogurt, simmered to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g chicken breast, cubed
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 1 can (400g) tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, and salt. Add chicken cubes, coat well, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  2. Sauté the aromatics: In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until golden. Add garlic and ginger, and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Brown the chicken: Add the marinated chicken to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned.
  4. Combine with tomato puree: Stir in the tomato puree and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Add creamy goodness: Pour in the heavy cream and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Garnish and serve: Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute heavy cream with coconut milk. Allow chicken to marinate for at least 1 hour for the best flavor.
