A comforting dish that transforms leftover tortilla chips into a delicious meal layered with flavors and textures.

Ingredients

  • Tortilla chips
  • Chili sauce (red sauce)
  • Cheese (queso fresco or other)
  • Sour cream
  • Onion (sliced)
  • Eggs (optional)
  • Cilantro (for garnish)
  • Avocado (optional)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chili Sauce: Heat the chili sauce in a pan over medium heat until it’s warm, letting those savory aromas bring comfort to your kitchen.
  2. Coat the Tortilla Chips: Add the tortilla chips to the sauce and stir until they are well coated, ensuring each piece is enveloped in that fiery goodness.
  3. Soften the Chips: Cook for a couple of minutes until the chips are slightly softened, allowing them to absorb the sauce while retaining just a touch of their crunch.
  4. Serve the Chilaquiles: Transfer the saucy chips onto a plate. Top with generous amounts of cheese, dollops of sour cream, and the fragrant sliced onion. Add avocado and eggs if desired.
  5. Garnish and Enjoy: Sprinkle with freshly chopped cilantro and serve immediately.

Notes
