Delightful bars made with overripe bananas and rich chocolate chips, perfect for a cozy treat.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the bananas in a large mixing bowl with the melted butter until well combined.
  3. Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar, stirring until smooth.
  4. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Mix the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  6. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it out evenly.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Slice into bars and serve.

Notes

Make sure your bananas are very ripe for the best flavor. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
