Indulge in this decadent Chocolate Lava Cake that features a molten chocolate center, perfect for any dessert lover.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and lightly dust with flour to ensure a beautiful release later.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips together in a microwave or double boiler until smooth and glossy.
  3. Whisk together the large eggs, egg yolks, and granulated sugar in a separate bowl until the mixture becomes pale and slightly thickened.
  4. Combine the smooth melted chocolate mixture with the egg mixture. Stir in the all-purpose flour, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until well incorporated.
  5. Divide the rich batter among the prepared ramekins, filling them about three-quarters full.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes until the edges are firm but the center is still soft, creating that signature lava effect.
  7. Cool the cakes for 1 minute, then carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate to serve immediately.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider using dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet. Serve with vanilla ice cream or fresh berries for a delightful contrast.
