Decadent cupcakes infused with the flavors of tiramisu, featuring coffee-soaked cake and creamy mascarpone topping.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup strong coffee, cooled
  • 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well blended.
  3. Cream together the sugar and softened butter until creamy and smooth.
  4. Add the eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract to the mixture, blending until fully incorporated.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the cooled coffee gently, allowing it to merge with the batter.
  7. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely in the pan before transferring them to a wire rack.
  10. Whip together the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  11. Pipe or spread the mascarpone mixture generously on top of the cupcakes.
  12. Dust the cupcakes with cocoa powder before serving.

Notes

For a stronger coffee flavor, use espresso or a robust blend. If you don’t have buttermilk, substitute it with regular milk mixed with vinegar or lemon juice.
