Delightful cinnamon roll twists that are easy to make and perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Create the base mixture by beating together melted butter, eggs, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and stir.
  3. Form the dough by gradually adding flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl, covered, for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Assemble the cinnamon roll filling by rolling out the dough and spreading melted butter followed by a mixture of cinnamon and brown sugar.
  8. Slice the dough into strips, twist each gently, and place on a lined baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Drizzle with glaze made from mixing powdered sugar and milk over the warm twists.

Notes

Best enjoyed warm; pairs well with coffee or fresh fruit. Can be frozen for up to 2 months.
